I mentioned yesterday that I am an accountant, so a chapter on budgeting was pretty much a given in my book! There is nothing “elevating” about overspending! No matter how well-dressed you are, financial woes are going to stress you out and drag you down.
We are all in different seasons of life and all have different financial situations. No matter how big or small your budget is, I think the key is to have one and stick to it as best you can. My husband and I both have a clothing budget for the year that we set and agree on when we devise the family budget each January. (We are BOTH accountants!) From there, I’m sure to track my expenses as the year rolls along, so I know exactly where I stand and what I have to work with. (This means that often the wish list items don’t get fulfilled.)
Budgeting sounds boring, but I actually think that a budget is a key tool in elevating your wardrobe. Having discipline and restraint helps you think your purchases through carefully, therefore only adding items that you truly love and fit your personal style (and budget of course!)
